Joint statement from RIM Co-CEOs in response to comments by Apple

Hot topic Apple's iphone 4 has been blasted by other smart phone manufacturers who have been releasing statements slamming Apple. RIM's Co-CEO's responded to misleading statements from Apple in a press release:

Apple’s attempt to draw RIM into Apple’s self-made debacle is unacceptable. Apple’s claims about RIM products appear to be deliberate attempts to distort the public’s understanding of an antenna design issue and to deflect attention from Apple’s difficult situation. RIM is a global leader in antenna design and has been successfully designing industry-leading wireless data products with efficient and effective radio performance for over 20 years. During that time, RIM has avoided designs like the one Apple used in the iPhone 4 and instead has used innovative designs which reduce the risk for dropped calls, especially in areas of lower coverage.
One thing is for certain, RIM’s customers don’t need to use a case for their BlackBerry® smartphone to maintain proper connectivity. Apple clearly made certain design decisions and it should take responsibility for these decisions rather than trying to draw RIM and others into a situation that relates specifically to Apple.

The white iphone4 has now been pushed back to December 2010, just in time for a White Christmas.

M.I.A Throwing Shade at Oprah And Gaga?

M.I.A sounded more than a little salty according to a pull quote cited over at Love B Scott;

‘…Oprah seemed like she was giving me the cold shoulder. She was with Iman(Bowie). Iman was always dancing with me, hugging and kissing me, but Oprah seemed really pissed off with me. Also she made this huge speech at the ball praising Lady Gaga and about how she (Lady Gaga) is helping Americans to be the best of themselves. There’s millions of other Americans who represent that for me. Is (it) about numbers? About how much you’re selling? Is it truly about the journey? Because (Lady Gaga’s) journey isn’t that difficult: to go from the fucking Upper East Side to a fucking performing arts school and on to a stage at the museum of fucking wherever. That journey’s about four miles.’

I believe that this quote is not genuine, it has been linked to no source but has been popping up all over the internet.

Review Wireless Festival Sunday 4th July 2010

I like it a lot was in the thick of the Wireless festival none no vip passes, no trying to be cute, straight up in the thick of it. Lilly Allen, Wiley and Roll Deep, Professor Green, Chipmunk and Jay-Z.

So Sunday 4th July would have been the best line up ever however Drake pulled out and Barclaycard and Wireless 2010 failed to replace him, this would have been the icing on the cake. It literally would have been the equivalent of Fireworks. Last time I saw Jay-z performing in London was during the Brit awards in Earlscourt, prior to that my attempts to book tickets for the round house were scuppered somehow. This was the day that I and 50,000 others had been waiting for, and it was an Epic day out!

On arrival I entered the festival and watched Chipmunk get the crowd moving, with Esmee Dentes on the main stage which was the perfect time to turn up, to hear a few tracks lifted from I am Chipmunk, a few revellers even through their C signs up. Once the set was over we moved on to the Pepsi Max Stage as it seemed to be the one at the time.

Professor Green at the Pepsi Max stage was really popping, he totally rocked the crowed the good vibes continued with other zealous revellers climbing on friends shoulders, quickly becoming a target for the beers bottles being launched amongst the audience like missiles in some kind of house of flying bottles, leaving many people including myself bottled several times however these were all plastic bottles! High energy vibes were generated by Roll Deep and Wiley. The crowd went crazy when guest of honour Lady Dynamite was invited to the stage. By the time Tinnie Tempah arrived I was already ready to pass out and left the tent shortly after the performance of Frisky.

After cooling off, it was time for Lily Allen at the main stage. Many people were happy to see her as she was the Second most relevant act on the main stage. As Lily delivered a few memoires between tracks she had to borrow some duck tape from the stage manager to tape her dress up in order to keep her breast popping out of her flowing white dress. The sun was still high in the sky and Lily's Collaboration with Professor Green was one of my favourite offerings from Lily Allen on the night.

The stage monitors were converted into count down timers and after the wait was over the audience erupted when they caught a glimpse of Jay Z wearing all black everything, representing roc nation "pledge your allegiance!" got his set started with what can only be described as a full concert worth of quality Jay-Z tunes with live band two drummers and a brass section. Jay-z now in full flow performed like a hip hop, rockstar wearing black glasses he bought out mephis bleek, and they performed an array of classics including Is That Your Chick, the crowd was instantly on fire. The perfect festival spirit was inspired by electrifying renditions of classics such as ROC, Encore and HOVA. Whilst captivating the audience Jay Z  payed homage to legends past *Biggie, 2pac, Aaliyah and present Obama.

99 Problems, New York State of Mind, Hard knock Life, I Just Want To Love You, Girls Girls Girls and Fiesta were performed in a remixed montage however I was perplexed as to why these amazing songs were chopped and screwed as they are amazing songs. When Jay Z performed material from the Blueprint 3 including anthems like A Star Is Born featuring J Cole the crowd were singing along whilst actually applauding, empire state of mind was performed with Alicia Keys stunt double Bridget Kelly. Mr Hudson put down his crutches to perform forever young after which he joked about adrenalin being a hell of a drug and then proceeded to limp off the stage. Other material performed came from various different Jay-Z records and the renditions were heart warming and pulse raising these including favourites such as Heart Of The City, Dirt Off Your Shoulder, Public Service Announcement, Encore and Show Me What You Got to name a few.

Jay-Z (Feat J.Cole) - A Star Is Born (Wireless Festival 2010)

The London audience seemed to enjoy the entire show as Jay Z saluted the audience and was at full 10/10 performance level without faltering. Between sets he been managed to acknowledge the people waving flags and banners and even gave a lucky female fan who knew the words to all his songs his jacket, which he insured she got with the help of the security guys in the high resolution jackets. She was delighted and scream hysterically as Jay-Z remained cool, covey yet down to earth and genuine enough to remove his glasses when speaking to his fans during an interlude.
Here is a short clip of Jay-Z Big Pimpin' (Wireless Festival 2010)

Jasaid that "London has become a second home." As he thanked the fans, the moment was inspiring, the atmosphere celebratory and Jay Z delivery was perfect, it was emotional.

Chris Brown Banned From Performing In The UK

According to the Metro newspaper, Chris Brown has been barred from the UK, preventing him from completing his tour of England. Last boy on earth Chris Brown applied for a visa last week but it was refused on the grounds of his previous conviction for assaulting International Super Star and now ex girlfriend Rihanna last year. The 21-year old was sentenced in August 2009 to five year’s probation and six months community service. Brown's tour manager said that the tour had been ‘postponed.’
